Chicken Salad Chick of Maple Grove is owned and operated by the Coffey family, Minnesota natives with strong ties to professional basketball and their local community. Their franchise group, Starting Five LLC, includes Richard, Sheba, Sydney, Nia and Amir Coffey, each bringing a unique set of complementary strengths and experiences to the business.
The Coffeys are well known for their accomplishments on and off the court. Richard and Amir both played professionally in the NBA. Richard spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, while Amir played six seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, and most recently for the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns. Nia currently plays for the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA, while Sydney previously played professional basketball overseas. Sheba also has basketball roots, making the sport a defining part of the family’s story.
Chicken Salad Chick of Maple Grove marks the family’s first franchise venture. An Army veteran and nonprofit CEO, Richard has extensive experience in leadership and community engagement. Sheba’s background in real estate gives her skills in sales, networking and client relations, while Sydney contributes experience in territory management and business development. Nia and Amir bring discipline, strong work ethics, and high-performance mindsets cultivated throughout their professional basketball careers. Teamwork has been a central theme in the Coffey’s lives, so together, they believe they can build a lasting business rooted in community, service and connection.
