ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WBTV) – A man was arrested after he allegedly shot at another person inside a Food Lion grocery store in South Carolina this past week.
Sister-station WIS reported that the shooting happened Friday, Nov. 14 inside the store on Chestnut Street in Orangeburg.
The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety told WIS that the shooting happened after “some type of altercation” inside the store, and that the target was walking away when they were shot at.
Nobody was hurt by the gunfire, although a bullet was reportedly found lodged in the grocery store ceiling.
WIS reported that the alleged shooter — 21-year-old Tajari Laseyon-Devario Riley — turned himself in later Friday and was charged with breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature. He was released from jail after he posted a $25,000 bond.
The news station said the Food Lion closed after the shooting Friday but reopened on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the Carolinas, a shooting happened at another Food Lion in High Point, N.C., just one day prior to the Orangeburg situation.
In High Point, a man was allegedly arguing with an employee over a turkey before another man stepped in. One of the men then went outside to get a gun and the two shot at each other. One was hit in the arm. It was unclear if either man was arrested.
