It’s one of the most popular fast food chains in Colorado and across the nation: Chick-fil-A. The longest free-standing Chick-fil-A in Northern Colorado, at Horsetooth and College in Fort Collins, reopened in early November of 2026 after a four-month remodel.
How Long Has Horsetooth and College in Fort Collins Had a Chick-fil-A?
It does seem crazy, to me and others, that Fort Collins only has one single Chick-fil-A location. Sure, at one point there were two, as the one inside Foothills Mall remained open for about a year after the Horseooth and College spot opened in 2009. The one inside the mall had to have been there for at least 15 years; before Chick-fil-A at Horsetooth and College, Nate’s Steak & Seafood had stood since the early 1980s.

Being Fort Collins’ only Chick-fil-A location, the area of Horsetooth and College can get busy; even the big parking lot there, which was for the former Safeway, gets packed. There’s just something about Chick-fil-A that many people love; college students even make the trek from campus to enjoy it.
What Did They Do to the Chick-fil-A at Horsetooth and College?
I never really hit up the Horsetooth and College prior to the remodel, so it was hard for me to tell what was new/different when I grabbed lunch on the first official day of them reopening on November 4, 2026. Everything looked great to me; according to the Coloradan, they updated/expanded the kitchen and drive-thru, renovated the play area, and got rid of the patio that was on the northeast side.
