ST. LOUIS—The Washington Avenue Food Hall opened its doors on Friday as several local food vendors serving guests inside.

Patrons walking in will experience a warm, inviting atmosphere that offers nine restaurant options plus full-service bars and an integrated social gaming experience.

“The whole thing has been driven behind making this neighborhood a place people want to live, work, visit and come stay,” said Alex Oliver, owner of Oliver Properties. “We traveled to other cities and seen really cool food halls. We’re like, ‘well, maybe if you divide it up with multiple restaurant tours, different bar operation, you’re kind of diversifying everybody’s risk.’”

With apartments, condos, hotels and shopping within walking distance, the developer, Oliver Properties, believes the Food Hall will be a successful centerpiece to a very walkable neighborhood.

Best of all, locals will recognize the food vendors as not the stereotypical offerings in other multi-restaurant food venues.

“They’re all local restaurateurs with a great food reputation, great operational reputation and really just great people too. Their food is amazing. As operators, they’re amazing and that’s really what we’re building on. Almost all of the businesses here along the corridor that we’ve been developing are all local businesses, local entrepreneurs who are looking to be part of this community and part of the momentum that continues to grow in the neighboring.”

Restaurants in the Food Hall at grand opening are Troit, Maci’s Prime BBQ, Steve’s Smash Burgers, Conefection by the Fountain, 787 Subs, Little Bao, Arzola’s Taco’s y Más, Pretzel Pop, and 4 Hands Brewing Co.
