Local restaurateurs Brad Friedlander and Michael DuBois announced the relaunch of Moxie, scheduled to open in Legacy Village in Lyndhurst this fall.
Moxie, a restaurant featuring American-style cuisine, was formerly located at 3355 Richmond Road in Beachwood before closing in April 2019. The restaurant’s previous space is now home to Heck’s Cafe.
Plans were to reopen Moxie in 2024 at 16 N Main St. in Chagrin Falls, but those plans changed as Friedlander decided to pivot and convert the space in a new concept called Odd Fellows, run by the pair.
Former customers have been asking Friedlander to reopen Moxie as it was a “Cleveland fixture for years and years,” Andrea Wedren, founder of Boom marketing, told the Cleveland Jewish News.
With all of the original recipes in hand, the pair of restaurateurs purchased that space in Legacy Village that previously housed Bar Louie at 24337 Cedar Road.
Initial plans for that space included a new concept restaurant called The Legacy, which would have combined fan favorites from a variety of Friedlander’s past restaurants. Ultimately, the team decided to relaunch Moxie and bring back original recipes and staff to give customers the experience that they have been asking for.
Friedlander previously owned Red, the Steakhouse and Blu, both in Beachwood and now closed. DuBois owns Imperial Wok with Adam Kemelhar, and is a former partner of Birdigo Chicken & Custard in Solon, now closed. In addition to Odd Fellows, together, the pair also operates Lopez 44 in Chagrin Falls.
