LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Smith’s where two of its employees were killed reopened in Las Vegas Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened at the Smith’s on Maryland Parkway and Silverado Ranch Tuesday, May 12, just before noon.

The store has since been closed.
“The store has been temporarily closed since the tragedy on May 12 that took the lives of two Smith’s associates, Amanda Frias-Rosas and Victor Frias,” a statement from Smith’s said.
Victims Amanda and Victor Frias Rosas were married.
“It puts a little scare into me thinking that, you know, there’s people like that around,” one Smith’s customer told FOX5 as he walked into the store, referencing the murder suspect.

“It’s kind of the world we live in nowadays,” said another customer. “I shouldn’t say that because that’s awful, but I’m used to hearing about it on the news, and every day something happening.”
Smith’s says they have worked with each store associate to provide counseling and other support services. Officials say employees received pay continuity while taking time to process and grieve.
“Our deep condolences go to all who’ve been affected by this senseless act of violence,” said Tina Murray, Head of Public Affairs for Smith’s. “We’ll continue to support our associates as they return to work at this and other Smith’s locations.”
Smith’s says it has been preparing for staff and customer return. This includes cleaning, painting, and replenishing store products. The statement said many were donated to Three Square of were moved to another Smith’s location.
“The safety of our associates and customers remains in focus as a core value as we reopen to serve the community,” said Murray. “We’re grateful for the quick response by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, and others, whose quick actions helped in subduing and apprehending the perpetrator. We extend our appreciation to the Resiliency and Justice Center and Silverado Ranch and Community Center for providing essential resources to our associates.”
