PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) – A new restaurant could be coming to the Heart of Mercer County.
The Princeton City Council voted Wednesday to offer a lease to Hall Hospitality for the restaurant building at the former Reel Catch property located at 128 Brick Street.
Hall Hospitality is owned by Kevin and Jamie Hall, who also own Jimmie’s Restaurant on Mercer Street. The company plans to open Princeton Pond House, a southern-style restaurant, at the location.
Under the lease terms, Hall Hospitality will pay $1,500 per month for a three-year lease beginning Aug. 1 and ending in June 2029, according to Princeton Economic Development Director Sam Lusk.
“They provide great food options in their proposal and they’re hoping to offer good southern hospitality food,” Lusk said. “They’re going to have great exciting range of options that they’re hoping to announce to the public here very soon.”
No opening timeline has been provided for the restaurant.
Additional property plans
The restaurant is one of several developments planned for the property, which the city purchased for nearly $1 million late last year.
A golf simulator will be added to the putt-putt building on the property. The putt-putt facility, which includes dinosaurs that will be renovated, is scheduled to open in July.
The property’s namesake pond will become a water feature.
When combined with a wave pool being built and planned athletic fields, Princeton will offer 45 acres of athletic options for residents, Lusk said.
“When people come to the area, they ask what is there to do,” Lusk said. “These are good public facilities that people can come to in the area. They can grow a business. They can start a business. And they can come here and just enjoy what Princeton has to offer.”
