Sinners Steakhouse, the popular Point Pleasant dining destination, is expanding with a second location in Kenilworth set to open Sept. 29.

Doors will open to the public on Sept. 26, without reservations. The new restaurant will operate Tuesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to close, with the last seating at 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to close, according to owner Mike Kohler.

“After getting the Point Pleasant location off the ground, it’s always been on our radar,” Kohler said of the expansion plans. “We were just looking for the right location, and this one popped up here in Kenilworth, fantastic location right off the parkway, easy access, and it was kind of a no-brainer for us.”

The original Point Pleasant location opened in April 2022 and is entering its fifth year of operation.

The Kenilworth location will initially feature the same menu as the Point Pleasant restaurant, though the owners plan to expand the menu in the future. Kohler highlighted signature items, including the tomahawk and cowboy steaks, the scallop and mushroom risotto, and lobster gnocchi.

“We’re gonna stick with the same menu and menu concept, and then eventually, we’re gonna elaborate a little bit more on it,” Kohler said. “Up north we have a much bigger property, much more storage, much more room to expand the menu.”

Popular drinks include the smoked old fashioned, served under a skull-shaped cover that releases smoke through its nostrils, and a blueberry Cosmo. Seasonal dessert cocktails, including a pistachio martini, are also featured.

The new location underwent a complete renovation from its previous use as a bistro. The design features a speakeasy-inspired atmosphere with a 15-foot chandelier in the main entrance, brass fixtures, and glass accents.

“I wanted that speakeasy atmosphere,” Kohler said. “And I think we nailed that, but it also has a lot of class to it as well.”

The restaurant will feature an upstairs event space with a capacity of approximately 110 people, complete with a full bar and a kitchen. The space can accommodate bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, and baby showers.

Sinners Steakhouse is known for its themed dining experiences throughout the year. The restaurant hosts a Christmas-themed experience with full decorations, themed cocktails, and custom Santa mugs that customers can collect each year.

A portion of Santa mug sales benefits a local nonprofit, with the owners match the contribution.

The restaurant also celebrates Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and Oktoberfest with themed menus and special events.

Kohler emphasized the restaurant’s commitment to accessibility despite its upscale positioning. “Although we’re labeled as a high-end steakhouse, we cater to everybody,” he said. “We don’t want to be that stuffy, branded high-end steak house where you have to come in with deep pockets. We want to be able to serve everybody.”

The owners plan to become involved in community sponsorships, school systems, and town activities, including street fairs and festivals.
