A high-end Brazilian steakhouse known for its elevated Churrasco dining experience is continuing its Massachusetts expansion.

Fogo de Chão is planning to open at South Shore Plaza, located at 250 Granite St. in Braintree, in spring 2027.

The opening will mark Fogo de Chão’s first South Shore location, joining existing restaurants in Boston’s Back Bay, the Burlington Mall and upcoming location at the Northshore Mall in Peabody.

The South Shore Plaza restaurant will feature Fogo de Chão’s signature design, including an inviting bar, dedicated social gathering spaces and a thoughtfully curated dining room.

“Bringing Fogo de Chão to South Shore Plaza represents a major milestone in the continued evolution of our dining experience,” Amy Sullivan, director of marketing and business development at South Shore Plaza, said in a statement.

“Fogo is a destination. It’s a place people choose for birthdays, anniversaries, business dinners and memorable nights out,” Sullivan said. “Bringing that caliber of dining to the South Shore reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the kinds of experiences our guests can’t find anywhere else.”

Fogo de Chão has built a reputation for its signature rodizio-style service, where expertly trained gaucho chefs carve premium meats tableside for diners. Other signature offerings include the Market Table, stocked with seasonal salads and fresh vegetables, and an award-winning South American wine list.

The news of Fogo de Chão’s arrival comes as South Shore Plaza expands its collection of premier retail, dining and entertainment experiences. Recent additions include Lululemon, Uniqlo, True Religion, Timberland, POP MART, Rolife, Cape Cod Coffee and the newly expanded Footlocker.
