SAVANNAH, Ga. — As fans across the world mourn the loss of country music icon Dolly Parton, one Savannah restaurant is celebrating her life and legacy with a special tribute.
Treylor Park Double Wide Diner on Bay Street is offering customers half-off drinks from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the remainder of the week in honor of Parton. The promotion is being offered at this location only.
Customers stopping by the restaurant can also watch Parton’s classic 1980s film 9 to 5 while listening to her music.
Parton’s death has left fans across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry reflecting on the impact she had on music and popular culture.
People in downtown Savannah said they were shocked by the news but grateful for the decades of music and memories Parton gave fans around the world.
Keely Moses, who traveled to Savannah from Charleston, said Parton stood out because of her generosity, kindness and ability to remain humble despite her fame.
“She just mentored so many young musicians and people, just by her generosity and kindness. She just never really seemed like she had an ego.”
For many fans, Parton’s legacy extends beyond her music. She was known for her philanthropy, advocacy and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
At Treylor Park Double Wide, the weeklong tribute gives customers a chance to raise a glass, watch one of Parton’s most recognizable films and remember the country music legend. Restaurant owner Trey Wilder says the tribute is a way to honor Parton and the impact she had on generations of fans.
“Just growing up with her music and all that she’s done with the community and Dollywood and all that good stuff, we just felt it was the right thing to do.”
The half-off drink promotion will continue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the remainder of the week at the Bay Street location.
