Summer is ending with plenty of new options for diners looking to try something different.
August brought a mix of restaurant openings to Mississauga and Oshawa, from Vietnamese and Mexican cuisine to vegetarian dishes and sweet treats.
Here are five restaurants that opened this month:

Toronto Vietnamese restaurant The SaiGon Pho and Grill opened a new location inside The Food District at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga.
The restaurant serves traditional Vietnamese dishes including slow-simmered pho, grilled pork rice, vermicelli bowls, banh mi sandwiches, spring rolls and grilled meats.
Its first location opened near Finch Station in Toronto in 2025. The new Square One spot also features a dine-in space with wood accents and soft lighting.

Craig’s Cookies opened its first Mississauga location in Port Credit at 102 Lakeshore Rd. E.

The Canadian chain is known for thick, fresh-baked cookies in flavours such as Bueno, Toblerone, Pop Tart and pecan butter tart.
Founded by Craig Pike, the company opened its first brick-and-mortar shop in Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood in 2018. The Port Credit store marks the chain’s 25th location.

South Indian vegetarian restaurant Aaha Truly South opened a new Oshawa location at 1180 Simcoe St. N.
The restaurant specializes in traditional meat-free South Indian cuisine, including idly, vada, dosas, pesarattu, pongal, parotta and puri, along with desserts and South Indian filter coffee.
The Oshawa restaurant is the company’s third location, joining existing spots in Scarborough and downtown Toronto.

Pal’ Antojo Mexican Restaurant opened at 277 Queen St. S. in Streetsville, replacing longtime local restaurant Border MX Mexican Grill.
The restaurant serves a range of Mexican dishes, including tacos, quesabirrias and chilaquiles, along with traditional desserts and beverages.
The building has also been refreshed with a colourful exterior mural and new signage.

Popular Pakistani restaurant and catering chain Silver Spoon opened a new location in Oshawa at 452 Taunton Rd. W.
The family-owned business has been serving halal Pakistani cuisine across the GTA since 2000, with a menu featuring biryani, curries, barbecue, kebabs, naan, vegetarian dishes, desserts and all-day breakfast.
The Oshawa restaurant is the chain’s ninth location, joining restaurants in Mississauga, Brampton, Milton, Burlington, Pickering and Scarborough.
