MIAMI (WKRC) – A Florida steak house manager is accused of fatally stabbing his mother inside his high-rise apartment before asking a food delivery driver to call 911.
Stefano Cremasco Cicero, 36, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder with a weapon, reports NBC Miami.
According to an arrest affidavit cited by the news outlet, a delivery driver was dropping off an order at the Solitair Brickell Apartments when Cremasco Cicero let her into the building and asked her to call 911.
Cremasco Cicero called 911 on his phone and handed it to the driver, per Miami Herald, who spoke with a dispatcher, according to the affidavit. When she attempted to return the phone, he allegedly refused to take it.
Police arrived shortly after 5 a.m. and spoke with Cremasco Cicero, who allegedly told officers, “I was defending myself.”
Officers went to his 47th-floor apartment and found his mother behind the entry door, covered in blood and suffering from multiple apparent stab wounds, according to the affidavit and WSVN. Investigators also reported finding several kitchen knives with blood on them, according to NBC Miami.
Miami Herald reports surveillance video allegedly showed Cremasco Cicero and his mother returning to the apartment around 10:30 p.m. Hours later, video allegedly showed him entering an elevator alone wearing bloody clothing and carrying a knife.
Police described the killing as an isolated, apparently domestic incident.
Cremasco Cicero’s mother had been visiting from Mexico, according to the affidavit.
Cremasco Cicero was taken into custody and remains on an immigration hold, according to Miami-Dade jail records. He was in the U.S. on an investor visa, per police.
