A York restaurant company has gone into liquidation owing thousands to the Home Office in fines.
Sky Blue York Ltd, which formerly ran the Sky Blue Chinese Restaurant on Barbican Road, owes more than £100,000 to creditors.
Of that, £90,000 is owed to the Home Office.
The company appointed a voluntary liquidator, Jasmine Baxter from Anderson Brookes insolvency practitioners, last Friday (4 September).
A statement of affairs published the same day, shows it has four unsecured creditors.
It owes £10,000 to Regency Online Shopping Ltd, based in Kirstall Road, Leeds; £1,500 to HMRC and £912 to Companies House.

But its biggest creditor by far is the Home Office, with a debt of £90K listed.
The Home Office told YorkMix that its immigration enforcement officers have visited the Sky Blue Restaurant twice.
On 17 July 2025, officers conducted an illegal working enforcement visit there. The business was served with a Civil Penalty Referral Notice.
That case is currently with the Home Office Civil Penalty Compliance Team and is still ongoing.

Immigration enforcement paid a further visit on 10 December 2025.
Sky Blue York Ltd was issued with a civil penalty notice on 22 January 2026 for £45,000 for employing one individual without the right to work.
The penalty remains unpaid.
Civil Penalty Notices include a fine of up to £45,000 per illegal worker for a first breach and up to a maximum of £60,000 for repeat offending.
Sky Blue York Ltd changed its registered address from 16 Barbican Road, York, to a property in Chorley on 4 September.
It has one active director, Kheng Chooi Koay.
The Sky Blue Restaurant is still operating as a restaurant and takeaway under new management.
It has a 4.2/5 rating on TripAdvisor and a 4/5 star rating on Google Reviews.
