New restaurant eyes spot of former popular ice cream shop in Milford

Milford’s breakfast scene is getting a new addition, as Nestera Brunch prepares to open at the former Bertie’s Creative Creamery spot on East Main Street.

Nestera received unanimous approval from the Milford Select Board in June for a common victualler license; the board later approved an all-alcohol license. Managers Brenda Tamez and Maria Carranza told the board the restaurant will focus on breakfast and lunch service, operating daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu will also offer mimosas and local craft beer.

Tamez said during the June 1 Select Board meeting that the restaurant could expand its hours in the future, depending on customer demand, but its initial focus will be breakfast and lunch service.

Nestera Brunch will soon open at 198 East Main St. (Route 16) in Milford. It will take the spot of Bertie’s Creative Creamery, which closed last year.

“We want to make sure we bring a nice breakfast place here, something different, something contemporary for Milford to have,” Tamez said during the meeting.

Restaurant officials did not respond to multiple requests from the Daily News seeking comment.

According to application materials filed with the town, Nestera is owned by Jose Manuel Carranza Lopez, who also owns Sol De Mexico Bar & Grill, which has locations in locations in Milford (also on East Main Street), Bellingham and Taunton.

Milford Health Inspector Joan Clarico told the Daily News that Nestera has not yet applied for its final health inspection, meaning it is likely to open later this fall.

Wonder expands to Wellesley

The rapidly growing virtual food hall chain is planning a new location in Wellesley Square in 2027, though its exact address has not been announced.

Wonder, on N Main Street in Natick, opened in Feb. 2026.

Wonder operates more than 150 locations nationwide, including several in MetroWest. Stores in Framingham (571 Worcester Road) and Natick (219 North Main St.) opened in March. Wonder can also be found in Belmont, Acton, Medford, Newton, Watertown and Millbury.

Customers order through Wonder’s app, choosing from a variety of area restaurants and combining items from multiple menus into one order. Wonder partners with well known chefs and brands, offering both national names and Wonder-exclusive concepts. All dishes are prepared on-site by Wonder employees using the chefs’ recipes.

SereniTea Cafe to relocate from Mendon to Hudson

SereniTea Cafe recently announced that it will be relocating from 4 Maple St. in Mendon location to the former Mullahy’s Cheese Shop space at 162 Main St. (Route 62) in Hudson.

The Mendon location will officially close on Sept. 23, according to the cafe’s social media accounts. A reopening date for Hudson has not been announced.

SereniTea serves breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, coffee, and a variety of teas.

Mullahy’s closed at the end of August after 10 years in Hudson.

Cafe 641 to open second location in Milford

Taking a page from its downtown Hudson neighbor, Rail Trail Flatbread, Cafe 641 is expanding its business to Milford.

In Milford, the cafe is operating from the Canaan Fuels gas station at 204 East Main St. (Route 16). Cafe 641 opened there on Sept. 9, serving coffee and pastries.

Cafe 641’s Hudson location has been open since 2013 at 45 Main St. (Route 62), serving a full breakfast and lunch menu.
