Crepes A-Go-Go
The downtown Berkeley crepe spot has permanently closed. The first Crepes A-Go-Go opened on University Avenue in 1994, and eventually became a mini-chain before a family split led to some ownership and name changes. The restaurant returned to Berkeley in Oct. 2023, operated by the son of the original founder. Now, Crepes A-Go-Go is gone again. Crepes A-Go-Go; 2055 Center St. Suite A, Berkeley
The Berkeley breakfast spot which shuttered in Jan. 2024 only to return in Feb. 2025, has decided to scale back. Breaking from its daily schedule for the first time in its nearly five-decade history, Homemade will now be open Friday to Monday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. “[I]n our older age we’ve come to a place where in order to stay viable we can only afford to be open on our busiest days during the week Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday,” Collin Doran, who operates the restaurant in partnership with Rohit Singh, wrote in a statement. “Due to many factors including the change in dining habits caused by the economy and post pandemic reliance on take out and delivery services, our weekdays are now slower than they’ve ever been before and we are not as young as we used to be.” Homemade Cafe first opened in 1979. Raj Indian Cuisine
Thanks to a Nosh reader tip, we have learned Raj Indian Cuisine, which first opened on Piedmont Avenue in 2003, is now closed. A visit on Sept. 24 found the restaurant shutdown and work was being done on the interior, and a white banner has been hung across the facade declaring: “Open Soon New Management Himalayan Family Kitchen.” The new restaurant will be called Yak & Spice. Follow Nosh for updates on its opening. Raj Indian Cuisine; 4086 Piedmont Ave., Oakland
