DUNFERMLINE Indian restaurant Dhoom is inviting local charities and community groups to put themselves forward for donations during its birthday month of November.
The eatery, located on the city’s New Row, has donated £16,500 to local causes over the past 12 months alone.
This recent funding brings the total charitable giving to £50,000 since the establishment first opened its doors to the public in 2018.
Members of the public will soon be able to nominate and vote for which community champions should receive the upcoming financial support.
This recent funding brings the total charitable giving to £50,000 since the establishment first opened its doors to the public in 2018.
The restaurant reached the £50,000 milestone through a combination of regular contributions from the business itself, alongside the ongoing financial support of its customers.
Over the past eight years, the monthly community gifting initiative has provided necessary funding to a wide variety of youth sports teams and community associations across the Fife region.
Previous beneficiaries of the funding include local football, gymnastics, cricket, swimming, and martial arts clubs operating within the area.
Financial donations have also been made on several occasions to support the upkeep of the peacocks residing in Pittencrieff Park.
The £16,500 donated over the last year marks a record high in charitable giving for the business over a 12-month period, as it approaches its eighth anniversary.
Chef-proprietor Dhaneshwar Prasad first launched the Indian street food concept restaurant in 2018.
Chef Prasad, Owner of Dhoom, said: “It is an absolute privilege to give back to the Dunfermline community that has embraced us so warmly over the last eight years.
“Hitting the £50,000 lifetime milestone is a testament to the generosity of our amazing customers. By working together, small monthly contributions add up to make a massive, tangible difference to local charities that keep our community thriving.”
Starting next week, members of the public will be invited to nominate the specific organisations, groups, clubs, or charities they would like to see receive a portion of the donation fund.
The causes that subsequently receive the most public votes will be allocated donations by the restaurant throughout November.
This charitable milestone follows a series of industry recognitions for the Fife establishment and its chef-proprietor.
Dhoom was recently named Scottish Restaurant of the Year at the British Asian Restaurant Awards 2026.
The establishment also holds the title of Best Restaurant at the Scottish Hospitality Awards and has received four consecutive AA Rosette Plates since its inception.
Prasad has also been recognised individually within the hospitality sector, having been named as one of Scotland’s 50 most influential chefs.
The venue is currently running a 10-course Desi Eats tasting menu for its patrons.
In preparation for future offerings, Prasad is planning an upcoming research trip to India to gather fresh culinary inspiration for the restaurant’s next menu.
Details of this upcoming menu are currently unreleased and will be announced in due course following the conclusion of the culinary expedition.
