(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Jay’s Soul Kitchen serves soul food that hugs you back, drinks that spark joy, and a vibe that feels like home. The popular establishment is now available via DoorDash and is located at 411 Lakewood Circle in Colorado Springs at The Satellite Hotel.
Owners Maija Maxwell and Jaawan Carter joined Loving Living Local hosts Krista Witiak and Justin Antweil in-studio to share the story behind the restaurant and showcase some of their most popular dishes.
Carter, who is originally from Memphis, said food has always been a way to bring people together.
“My family has always been big on soul food because it creates connection,” Carter said. “Our catfish is one of our top sellers, people love the wings, and you can never go wrong with chicken and waffles.”
The menu features made-from-scratch favorites, including house-made ranch, mac and cheese, greens, fried okra, and more. The restaurant also offers weekly Sunday specials and hosts its Rhythm and Brunch event on the first Sunday of every month, combining food, music, and community.
“I’m always looking to evolve our menu and keep the community on its toes,” said Carter with a smile.
