Inserra Supermarkets Inc. is preparing to unveil its newest ShopRite in North Jersey.
Located at 481 River Road in Edgewater, the supermarket will begin welcoming customers Sept. 19.

Former Acme home
In Edgewater, ShopRite takes over a 63,966-square-foot space formerly occupied by Acme Markets Inc. The Albertsons-owned chain went dark last month after losing its lease. Ahead of the closure, Acme said it would work to place as many of the store’s 115 employees as possible at other locations.
Previously a Pathmark, the site changed hands in the wake of Montvale-headquartered Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015. Edgewater was among dozens of supermarkets acquired by Acme.
At Edgewater Commons, ShopRite joins a tenant mix that includes Target, Mattress Firm, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, HomeGoods, Five Below, Marshalls, Skechers, Sephora, Outback Steakhouse, City MD and Burlington.
A member of Keasbey-based Wakefern Food Corp., Inserra is a family-owned grocer with 19 ShopRite stores across Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties and four in Rockland County, N.Y.
