VIRGINIA – With sadness and a heavy heart, Grandma’s Restaurant Company announced Friday that it will not be renewing its lease in Virginia for the year 2027, a news release from the company said.
Consequently, the company has made the difficult decision to permanently conclude operations at its existing site on September 27, 2026.
This decision was reached with the utmost respect for the brand’s legacy. Rather than operating under a short-term lease that could compromise the high standards of food and service our guests expect, we have chosen to close this chapter with our quality and reputation intact.
Our doors will remain open for the next 10 days. This final period is dedicated to our loyal guests, giving the community a chance to visit one last time, share memories, and say goodbye. Equally important, this window allows our dedicated staff members to continue earning wages while they begin looking for employment elsewhere.
Grandma’s Restaurant Company is deeply committed to supporting its workforce through this transition. Every employee wishing to remain with the company will be given priority for relocation opportunities.
Affected team members can continue their hospitality careers at our Duluth locations, including Grandmas Saloon & Grill, Little Angie’s Cantina, Bellisio’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, The Garden Wedding & Event Center, and the Adventure Zone Family Fun Center.
“We are profoundly grateful for the relationship we have shared with the Virginia community over the last 35 years,” said management. “While this closure brings an end to a wonderful era on the Iron Range, we want to assure our longtime fans that this is not a final goodbye. There will always be a warm welcome and a table waiting for them at our Canal Park restaurants.”
