The New York Times released its most recent list of the 50 best restaurants in the U.S. and, this year, two Louisiana restaurants were featured.
Restaurants are chosen by a scouting team of 16 who traveled across the country taste-testing what numerous restaurants have to offer.
Both Louisiana restaurants on the list blend cultural cuisines and dining traditions, making them standout eateries.
Why Dakar NOLA is among the best restaurants in the U.S.
Dakar NOLA is a modern Senegalese tasting menu restaurant and was named one of the best restaurants in the U.S. by The New York Times.
Chef Serigne Mbaye’s menu pays homage to his two cities from which the restaurant gets its name, melding his most cherished childhood memories and the culinary traditions of Senegal, with echoes of Creole cuisine in New Orleans hailing from Haiti.
Dinner at Dakar NOLA features a single, multi-course tasting menu, with some dishes served family-style, representing West African hospitality customs. The dining experience lasts approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
Dakar NOLA’s seasonal menu changes often and features seafood only dishes. Some dishes on the menu include a shrimp course, rice and fish courses.
Why Dolfy’s in New Orleans is one of the best restaurants in the U.S.
Dolfy’s in New Orleans is a Latin-Spanish restaurant that brings the flavors of Basque Country and the Iberian Peninsula to New Orleans.
Dolfy’s was opened this year by Chef and co-owner Adolfo Garcia Jr., who fell in love with Spanish cooking while working at RioMar, his father Adolfo Sr.’s Lating-Spanish restaurant.
This restaurant invites group participation, as its known for Pintxos that are for passing around and sharing. The menu also boasts artisanal cocktails and a broad range of appetizers and entrees.
