With roots dating back to 2007, Sage and Salt — and its former iteration, Saltwater Grille — has been a staple in the Litchfield community.
But after nearly two decades in business, the restaurant at 26 Commons Drive has closed.
Brook Noel Stowers and her husband, Andy announced at the end of August that they closed the restaurant 13 years after taking over as its owners. A Facebook post from the restaurant noted that the restaurant’s 20-year lease had come to an end.
The couple also own quick-service restaurant Salt 2.0 in Brookfield, which they continue to operate.
However, the Litchfield space may not be closed for much longer.
The 4,000 square-foot space is being offered as a “turnkey opportunity” through Coldwell Banker Commercial Realty. The lease is $7,000 per month gross plus utilities, according to the Coldwell Banker website.
“Inside you’ll find an upscale dining room, a fully built out operational bar, and two commercial kitchens ready for day one service. Tables, chairs, dishes, and glassware are all included. An open second floor is available for private parties, meetings, or additional event space. Skip the permitting headaches and equipment sourcing. Everything you need to open your doors is already here,” the listing reads.
Originally opened as the Saltwater Grille in 2007, the Stowers took over the restaurant in 2013. In 2025, the couple temporarily closed the restaurant and reopened it as Sage and Salt, with a new name, layout and menu.
