GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Local food spots are ready for the off-season boost as South Carolina Restaurant Week officially gets underway.

Local Eat Drink Celebrate owner John Dabrowski said the Pawleys Island-area restaurant has participated in Restaurant Week since opening in 2020. He said the week-long celebration helps drive up sales during the winter months.

“Restaurant Week helps us by getting guests in the door,” Dabrowski said. “ Guests spend a little bit more money when they’re coming out because they’re dining. They’re not just coming to eat. They’re gonna sit down and have three courses, maybe a wine or a cocktail.”

During the week-long celebration, Local will offer a three-course lunch special and a four-course dinner deal featuring its popular skillet cornbread and Sunday fried chicken, served with mac and cheese and coleslaw.

“If I give an opportunity for somebody to have a bargain and try something new, then that usually gets them in once, and then they come back again and again,” Dabrowski said.

Dabowski said courses cannot be split or shared during the event.

Restaurant Week started more than a decade ago as a way to encourage locals to try new food spots and boost sales in the winter

There are 22 restaurants participating across the Grand Strand.
