Food technology and ingredients company Kerry Group has officially opened its new coffee extraction facility in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – its first manufacturing site in the US state.
Plans for the new site were first announced in September 2025 and it will develop natural coffee taste and flavour profiles.
Kerry said that by using advanced extraction and concentration technologies it will create premium coffee solutions tailored to each customer’s formulation, from ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee beverages to alcoholic drinks, ice cream and savory sauces.
Kerry said the new facility increases its overall coffee extraction capabilities significantly, with independent hot and cold brew extraction lines designed to scale as demand grows.
Kerry’s new facility opens as US demand for premium coffee continues to grow.
Figures from the National Coffee Association, show that 48% of American adults drank specialty coffee in the past day, outpacing traditional coffee (39%), and setting a record high.
John Cahalane, President & CEO of Kerry North America, said the opening of its Bethlehem facility is an important milestone for Kerry’s coffee business in North America.
“It brings additional capacity and advanced processing capabilities closer to customers on the East Coast, helping them respond quickly to changing consumer preferences across hot and cold coffee,” he said.
“Just as importantly, it gives us greater flexibility to develop high-quality coffee experiences while identifying opportunities to reduce supply chain complexity and environmental impact,” he added.
