(Clive) — A pair of southwest Iowa restaurants are among the finalists for the best breaded pork tenderloin in the state.
The Iowa Pork Producers Association announced Friday the five finalists for the 2026 contest, including Friends Hide-A-Way in Underwood and Wasted Grain in Carroll.
Nominations for the annual award are submitted by the public for restaurants that serve a hand-breaded or hand-battered pork tenderloin sandwich on their regular menu with year-round, regular hours. Judges then evaluate the qualifying restaurants, with a final panel selecting the winner and runner-up.
The winner receives $500, a plaque, and an outdoor banner. Meanwhile, the runner-up receives $250 and a plaque. Iowa Pork encourages Iowans to visit the finalist restaurants, with the results expected to be announced later this month. October also serves as National Pork Month.
Other finalists include Landmark Grill and Grind in Williamsburg, Sasquatch Jacks Hideaway Barroom and Grill in Waverly, and Tin Roost in North Liberty.
