Rosedale Center’s Potluck food hall closing
Rosedale Center is closing its Potluck food hall in mid-October. The Roseville, Minnesota mall’s food court is home to several local restaurants, and was part of the mall’s push to make it more of a destination for visitors.

What we know:
Rosedale Center’s Potluck, which was filled with local restaurants, will close in mid-October, a spokesperson for the mall confirmed to FOX 9.
Potluck opened in 2019 as a food hall concept. It is home to some Twin Cities favorites, including OG ZaZa Pizza, Smack Shack, Legendary Spice, Black Coffee & Waffle Bar and Tio’s Tacos.

Restaurants respond to Potluck’s closure
Local perspective:
FOX 9 spoke with Joshua Hedquist, founder and owner of OG ZaZa Pizza, who said he had “mixed emotions” about Potluck closing. Hedquist said he is lucky to have multiple locations throughout the metro of his New Haven-style pizza restaurant, but Potluck was where the local chain got its start.
“I’ve been part of Potluck for a long time and put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it,” he said. “It’s my OG OG.”
At one point, Hedquist said he had three different restaurant concepts open at Potluck: Joey Meatballs, Salad Slayer and OG ZaZa. He eventually closed the other two once OG ZaZa took off.
“I don’t think I would be here if Rosedale and Potluck didn’t give me that opportunity,” he said.
Hedquist opened a new OG ZaZa Pizza location in Minneapolis’s Uptown neighborhood less than a month ago, so “the timing is pretty good” in terms finding them jobs at his other locations.
Hedquist says he feels for some of his fellow Potluck business owners, because for some of them, their only restaurant is now being forced to close.
“That was the cool thing about Potluck; it was all local businesses, not national chains,” he said.
What they’re saying:
The owner of Tio’s Tacos posted on social media about the food court’s impending closure, writing, “While I don’t really understand the ownership’s decision nor do I agree with it, my hands are tied.”
Smack Shack owner, Josh Thoma, issued the following statement: “We’re incredibly grateful to Rosedale Center for the opportunity to be part of Potluck Food Hall from the very beginning and for the partnership we’ve shared over the past seven years. With the closing of Potluck, we’re actively working on identifying potential opportunities to relocate the restaurant. We’re incredibly appreciative of our relationship with the Rosedale Center team and everything we’ve been able to build together over the years, and we’re excited to see where the next chapter takes us.”
The Source: A spokesperson for Rosedale Center confirmed Potluck’s closing in an email to FOX 9. FOX 9’s Allie Johnson also spoke with OG ZaZa Pizza founder and owner Joshua Hedquist. Additional information in this story comes from social media and Rosedale Center’s website.
