CINCINNATI —
A Cincinnati restaurant is getting some national recognition, making The New York Times’ list of “America’s Best Restaurants 2025.”
The list is described as The Times’ “favorite places in America right now” to eat at, and was curated by reporters and editors of the newspaper.
The list identifies restaurants known for their delicious dishes, mastery of craft, as well as a “generosity of spirit and a singular point of view.” NYT reporters and editors took 76 flights to visit 33 different states, consuming more than 200 meals in order to create their list.
The article states editors did not let restaurants know of their visit ahead of time, dining under the radar without bias.
Wildweed, which opened a permanent spot in 2023 in Over-the-Rhine, boasts a pasta-centric menu, with a variety of carefully crafted dishes.
“We eat like you do, with the same hope for a meal to remember, to be welcomed and delighted. These are 50 places where we found just that,” the article states.
Founded by David Jackman, formerly the chef at the Catbird Seat in Nashville, and Lydia, an Ohio native, the pair spent six years hosting over 225 pop-up dinners before they found a home in OTR with Wildweed.
The restaurant offers two unique dining options.
One allows guests to sit in their dining room with an a la carte menu offering fresh, pastas non-traditional sauces and garnishes, playful snacks and creative desserts.
The other option is to dine at the “chef’s counter.” The 11-seat curved counter gives guests a view into the kitchen and outdoors. The menu includes around a dozen different dishes, all following a story of 7 different ingredients. Throughout the meal, chefs will interact with guests, describing the dishes and ingredients.
Reservations are open for both. Find the dining room reservations here and the chef’s counter reservations here.
