What is the cheapest grocery store in Oklahoma? Study reveals most affordable spots

As cost of living in the United States rises, the cost of grocery shopping can come as a burden.

A new study shared by Newsweek found that in many states, grocery shoppers are paying over 50% extra by going to a higher cost market rather than the cheapest available option. But what is the cheapest grocery chain in Oklahoma?

Oklahoma and the rest of the nation are very similar in this way, with Aldi leading the way for cheapest grocer in 32 states, according to an analysis from debt relief program Freedom Debt Relief. On the other hand, Whole Foods is the most expensive grocery chain in the study in 44 out of 50 states, including Oklahoma.

Other states reported Walmart, Lidl and WinCo as their most affordable stores, in contrast with Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Albertson’s and Shaw’s as the priciest ones.

What’s the cheapest grocery chain in Oklahoma?

The cheapest grocery chain in Oklahoma and 31 other states is Aldi, according to the study.

To identify the most affordable stores, Freedom Debt Relief used Consumer Reports’ 2026 grocery price comparison, which ranked retailers against Walmart prices based on the cost of a comparable basket of common groceries, then looking at which chains operate in each state, separating them by the lowest- and highest-priced and then calculating the percentage difference between them.

Membership based warehouse clubs like Costco and Sam’s Club were not included due to additional fees and bulk packages.

Aldi also topped the list in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
