The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia is holding its annual Food Fight to generate enough food to provide more than 34,000 meals for people across Northeast Georgia, explains Director of Community Engagement James Brim.
“The Food Fight is where people are collecting food and bringing it to the Food Bank, and donating money to the Food Bank to make a difference in their community in the 15 counties that we serve.”
Brim tells more about donating to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
“Nonperishable food is better because we can move that really quickly. The perishable food, that is great too. We’ll take whatever somebody can afford to give to us because we’ll figure out a way to put it to use. We just need people to support us and help us make a difference in the community.”
The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia is a 501(c)3 organization that gathers donated items and purchased food from local, regional, state, and national product companies and programs. Food is processed and delivered from its branches in Athens and Clayton to human-service agencies, education, and faith-based organizations.
