Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease a 9-by-12-inch baking pan.
  2. Place the butter in a medium saucepan, and melt over low heat. Add the chocolate, and stir constantly until melted. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir until well mixed. Add the melted chocolate mixture, and mix until just combined. Add the flour and salt, and mix until combined. Add the nuts or chocolate chips if desired.
  4. Place the batter in the greased pan, and bake for 30 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Do not overbake.
