Moving to a huge fancy new building is rarely a good financial move for a BBQ business.

Surprised the owner isn’t around. I saw him at the
Manchaca location every time I went.

I was excited for the new spot, since I live in Buda, but I was giving the hype time to settle, and then the tip fiasco happened, and now this. I won’t set foot in there ever at this point. Downtown Buda has some whack business owners between this and Zoi’s.

How long will it be until Valentina’s will be closing permanently? I give it 12 months.

oh, look, a restaurant that got overly ambitious an expanded beyond their means. You don’t see that often. /s

In some small amount of fairness, this summer was brutal beyond anyone’s expectations. I’m sure a lot of places are facing a cash crunch.

Meh, I used to be a regular for years when it was on Manchaca. At some point, I realized I didn’t want to spend forever waiting for food. Some items were good but it wasn’t good overall.

After the tipping fiasco, I said hell no, NEVER AGAIN. I will never understand why owners don’t treat their employees well. They RUN your business. Do better.

I came to town recently after moving away and went to Valentina’s. It was ….. not good. And expensive. And the wait was horrendous. No thank you very much, wish it was still a small time food truck. The glow up appears to have ended with a face plant. RIP

I stopped going there a long time ago because their wait times are crazy. Wait on line for 30-45 minutes then another 30-45 for food. I’m good.

It’s also highly overrated. I brought a group of out of town buddies there and nobody thought it was worth the wait.

If you’re gonna hire a bunch of high school/college age kids to run your $40/plate restaurant and stiff them on pay/tips good luck to you!

What is the “tips fiasco” people are mentioning? I’m clueless. 🤷‍♀️

I remember when they started out downtown years ago. Loved it so much. Sad that it came to this.

From a customer point of view, I haven’t had any issues with long waits, bad service or bad food the times I’ve gone to the Buda spot (At least 3 occasions). Feel bad for the workers if all that is going on behind the scenes.

  13. I went during the pandemic when it was take-out only and online ordering only. So, it mitigated the line issue that a lot of people are mentioning. Really enjoyed what I got, and actually felt like it was a good value at the time (massive tortilla/amount of meat in the taco). Honestly had no plans to return, especially if they moved to Buda, but now I really have no reason to.

On my Boycut List, along with La BBQ and Black’s Barbeque.

Makes zero sense to spend my money there

WOW, pushing back a pay day? Got to love TX and our “right to work” policies.

Sure they have the Real Deal Holyfield, but who wants to go from Austin to Buda for BBQ when there’s plenty of local options that don’t require getting on the interstate?

  17. armadillocrossing22

a lot of restauranteurs are crooks

  18. Comfortable-Tea6429

This happens when you fuck with people money. The owner is a mean and rude dud. Bad management!!!!

Also, what does a spot at Austin FC set you back?
