The good: all the ingredients of a good Cali burrito are there (no sour cream though). The fries are nice and crispy, and this was a nicely packed. Clearly the owner has had good Cali burritos. The owner is extremely nice and welcoming.

The so-so: Cali burrito purists might be disappointed that this places replaces asada with tasajo, which gives it a different flavor. Meat wasn’t really chopped up and a bit salty.

The bad: shit is $17 if you order through the website. They don’t have the typical salsa you’d get in SD.

Verdict: satisfied my Cali Burrito fix. I’d come back regularly if it weren’t for the price. I want to try the asada fries next time.

Source: lived in SD for 5 years and crave a good Cali burrito every once in a while.

I’ll put it on my list. My take is LA has better taco game but SD burrito game is next level.

How was the pliability of the tortilla? I feel like that’s the one thing LA always gets wrong

Not to be confused with Samo’s Oaxaca in Santa Monica

(I just think it’s funny there are two so closely-named restaurants)
