Today we’re going blackberry hunting and then making our family’s favorite summertime treat – Quick & Easy Blackberry Cobbler! The recipe can be adapted with most any fruit (even canned peaches!). If you’ve never made this, please promise me you will. And don’t be like me and forget to buy some vanilla ice cream to go on top. Even though it doesn’t need it, it sure makes it that much more delicious. Happy Cobbler-ing y’all!

  1. Here in Alaska, you have to watch out for bears in some of the best wild berry picking spots

  2. Meredith I love your videos. love you family. cobbler looks just awesome but what size Skillet was that.

  3. When I was a kid on the farm we picked red and black raspberries as we did not have blackberries, but the raspberries went well with ice cream and jams and mom baked coffee cakes with them delicious memories. Your cobbler looks delish.👍

  4. Very reminiscent of my childhood. We had a huge field of blackberries just north of the house. We had a pony that we would stake out in various locations to trim the lawn, she loved getting into the blackberry patch and eat them thorns and all. My grandmother would go out and steal the berries from the pony to make jam. But then she would always go out to where the pony was and share it with her. She would always complain that the pony would take more than here fair share, we would laugh at her and remind her the berries were the pony’s to begin with. Never forget the sight of her trying sit next to the pony to spoon feed her and fighting to keep the pony’s nose out of the saucepan with the jelly.
BTW almost forgot to say, your treat looked absolutely yummy.

  5. Good afternoon Merdie and Family
Looks delicious Merdie 😋 when I was living at my dads property a few years back I made a pie from scratch with wild black berries that grew back by the woods and the pasture my biggest delima was making the crust hehehehe but it came out great but I now know a much easier way and that’s your way 🤠 Thanks my Wonderful Beautiful Friend 🤠❤️😘 Love Y’all…

  8. My Great Grandmother used to make blackberry and strawberry jelly when I was a youngster. I had the pleasure of being with her during the summers when school was out. She has been gone for 20 years now. The good ole days for sure

  9. Out here in Western Washington,we have 2 different varieties of blackberries. One is ready by July 4. They are small and grow on the ground. It takes FOREVER to pick enough for pies . They are the sweetest and have less seeds. The other is called a Himalayan blackberry. The berries are huge any do not take very long to pick. I make cobbler and jelly from it. They have lots of seeds. They are everywhere and an obnoxious weed.

  10. Just Subscribed I have a lot of blackberries on my place to try your recipe. Thanks

  12. Mom's Aunt Ellie had a Snake-Stick, and a canvas bucket to get the blue berries on the mountain many moons ago. Same recipe, think it is still in the old box. I think traditional wild thorn black berries taste better than those hybrid thorn less.

  13. Awesome, Thanks for sharing your recipe for the blueberry cobbler. Looks Delicious!!

  14. Well, that didn't work. I tried your cobbler (blueberries instead of blackberries). Didn't come out very well. My wife and I both felt like something was missing. I did it in a 9×9 baking pan. Oh well, will try it again. :*(

  15. I just made this for the very first time. I will have to tell you later if my family loves it. I also tried your chicken fried steak and mashed potato recipe. It was GOOD! My wife even asked me how I made it. LOL
