Shio ramen, veggie gyoza and Sapporo draught from Hokkaido Ramen Santouka Yonge/Eglinton

With the weather cooling down we wanted to kick off ramen season with a return to our favorite ramen spot in the GTA. It’s been around 4-5 months since our last visit and everytime we return here after trying other spots, I’m always impressed by how this stands against the other top spots in the city. Over the past year or so Isshin, Ikkousha, Ryus and Midori have been solidified as my other current personal favorites but Santouka is still my GOAT above them all. This broth, the texture of the noodles, the flavor of the chashu and toppings, this bowl always slaps and never fails to impress no matter how many times I have it.
Best part of this visit and meal is we had a fully stamped loyalty card to claim so the ramen and gyoza were free, all I paid for my meal was the $7 for the glass of Sapporo. Blessed way to kick off ramen season and start the week 🍜 🙏🏾

Santouka is still my favorite as well having tried many, many options across the city. In particular the Toroniku Ramen with the super tender pork jowls/cheeks is just outstanding.

Love this place but every time I go I find it hit or miss so I never bother going anymore. Sometimes service sucks, sometimes food takes forever, but most importantly, sometimes the ramen is excellent and sometimes it’s not. Weird.
I keep going between Raijin and Ramen Isshin as the best in the city, would love to try more but I think most places I’ve tried by now- dunno! Would love to hear more.
