10/10 food and service, stiff drinks, great ambience. I love Tam O’Shanter!

First time I’ve ever seen anyone rate Tam O’Shanter a 10/10. It’s a fun kitschy vibe but the food is mediocre and excessively overpriced. Having been there a few times I’d give it more like a 6/10 – maybe a good spot to take someone from out of town who doesn’t have a very discerning palate.

Rather than so many Reddit critcs being bitchy, why not just enjoy the place for what it is (it isn’t Lawry’s) and be happy we have a restaurant in LA that has lasted over 100 years and enough customers like it to keep it in business, even if some of you don’t. Some restaurants survive more on tradition, that’s ok too.

looks pretty good, better than that shitty greasy dim sum that is constantly posted here

If you haven’t, def go there during the winter holidays, and then get a night cap at the griffin.
