Welcome to my February Bread edition, today we are going to make Broa, the traditional Portuguese corn bread. I know this has been a very challenging and difficult month, but there’s no need to miss out on delicious homemade bread. That’s why I’m here with 12 recipes of wonderful bread to help keep the spirits up and make the most of staying home.

From now on, you can have a freshly baked-from-scratch homemade bread in less than 30 minutes with no proofing required, who would have thought it was that easy! Here’s what you’ll need for the Broa bread: one cup of corn meal, one tablespoon baking powder, one tablespoon of olive oil, one teaspoon of sea salt and one cup of warm water.

To start mixing your ingredients, pour your dry mixture in a bowl, add sparkling water and mix everything together until you get a homogenous dough. Grab a wooden spoon and stir the mixture with circular movements until it begins to form a dough. For this recipe you’ll need to “knead” the dough until you get a light consistency.

Can now place your Broa in the preheated oven at 350°F and bake it for 15 – 20 minutes, or until it has a golden. And with a tray with water for moist.

Finally, enjoy your freshly made Broa with some olive oil and sea salt. It is definitely a lifesaver when you don’t have time proof the dough, and can be eaten as breakfast or snack! Don’t forget to share your photos and tag me, I would love to know how it turned out for you.

Thank you for joining me in my February Bread edition and remember there are 11 more amazing recipes to try during this 12 months of bread. Stay safe and enjoy making your delicious homemade bread.
