This is a pint jar of plum jam. Unopened. The seal seems good. Just wondering about the giant head space and if that is ok

    I don’t know if the headspace is truly an issue, but I would definitely feel like someone who didn’t pay attention to headspace probably didn’t pay attention to a lot of safety recommendations.

    I really think that is the most headspace for any jam I have made or read. 1/2 ” had been the most. I follow – if I question it more than in passing, then toss it. Safety first.

    According to NDSU – a reputable source : plum jam is 1/4″ headspace. Good catch and great questioning here!
