And I’d be willing to bet that most of us who frequent this sub have never even heard of this place.

I’m definitely interested… $25 for a good burger, side and a beer sounds great! Anyone try this place??

  2. isthatapecker

That does not looks like the best burger. I’m not a fan of the “too tall to take a full bite” burgers.

tin cup for fries? idk would need to try first but doesn’t look amazing

  4. ktownhodown

AITA because they lost me at “complimented?”

I blame my upbringing and my mom’s relentless red pen.

  5. SonofCraster

What a joke. Their burger has been super dry and bland every time I’ve gotten it. There are hundreds of better choices out there.

Is the restaurant buying advertising in the LA Times? Is this some OC register type crap?

My gf and I are going on burger binges. Wednesday we tried goldburger. Last night I had her try Apple pan. Today I’m gonna have her try daglas. Tomorrow we’re gonna figure out the next stop that’s new for both us. Most Likely considering burger she wrote. Open to other suggestions as well (or just add to the list)

  8. There’s a big difference between a journalist or critic naming something the best, and winning “L.A. Times’ “Best of the Southland 2023” Readers’ Choice Poll for the Westside/Downtown/East L.A. region.”

  9. I’ve never heard of Hank’s, just like I’ve never heard someone say “Palisadian”

  10. JackStraw73

Um no. I get food from the Palisades all the time since close by where I pick up my kid. Even with minimal options Hank’s never comes up on my radar to try again.

Someone get the burger guy please, this looks like nonsense to me

  12. TyrionJoestar

Anytime I see fries in a metal cup I know I’m going to hate it there lol

  13. MustardIsDecent

People in the Palisades don’t even think this is the best burger. Complete joke.

Is it better than my favorite Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger? Biased since my parents fed me that since I was 6 years old and now I’m 45 still eating them 🍔

  15. Hollyweird78

I stopped reading when I saw their list of finalists. The Apple Pan and Tommy’s. GTFO.

Actually Hank’s used to be my favorite burger like 3-4 years ago. But I went a couple months ago and it seemed like they changed the menu and the burger was no longer anything special. Currently my favorite burger is the Western burger from Burger Lounge.

Hanks at one time had a great burger. Best? No.. but great. It started out pre pandemic and was owned by the guys who own blue ribbon sushi and bakeries. It used to be a solid smash burger with American cheese, great sauce. Just the right size where a double was perfect.

Then the pandemic happened and Caruso wouldn’t give the owners a deal on rent so they said fuckit I’m out. Caruso corp now owns it directly and the menu has slowly changed from the reasonable neighborhood burger concept into.. whatever the hell it is now. The burgers are now terrible , probably Sysco patties. Oh and the burger used to cost 15 bucks including fries.

Sauce: I’m a palisadian who misses a good burger

  18. CrazyLoucrazy

When the lettuce outweighs the pattys I’ll pass. I’ve found that I’ve enjoyed burgers at steakhouses and the such as being far superior. You can keep those smash burgers. I want an actual beef patty where you can taste the actual beef. Not a dried up crispy patty. Two absolute killers are the burgers at Taix in echo park and the Tam in Atwater. The Tam burger is an absolute must. And on Wednesdays Wife and the somm in Glassell park has a rotating special burger of the month.

  19. ThizzFayce

I’m pretty sure Rick Caruso owns the restaurant lol.

I love how the hacks that wrote this don’t think people have eyes. I can literally tell by the picture that isn’t the best burger in L.A.

But, that’s cool. I’ll guess I’ll have to try it now.

In other news, I saw this amazing burger on YouTube the other day and was wondering if anyone knew of a place around here where I could find something like this.

It’s their website. The pictures rotate depending on when you open it, but you’ll know it when you see it. It’s at Au Chevel in Chicago:

Here’s a video of someone eating it. It looks delicious. It’s the second burger he eats in the video:

I need to find something like this. It’s massive and has that that thick-cut bacon and runny egg on top. OMG I NEED TO FIND THIS.

They have a really good PR team. Most of this shit is paid for with connections.

  22. Thighpaulsandra

Someone posted a while ago about being approached to be on this list. It’s pay to play, total garbage.
