Harissa sauce, was requested by so many people .. And it was a bit delayed as Fresno Chile Pepper was not available.
But finally, I got a call from my supermarket informing that those chillies are available. And I decided to make this amazing, flavorful and versatile sauce recipe.
So here is the recipe of yummylicious Harissa Sauce :
– 2 Red Bell Peppers (larger in size)
– Slice and deseed it.
– Put some oil and coat the peppers
– For roasting :
In Oven : On a baking tray , put cut side on the bottom. Pre-heat the Oven at maximum temperature of your Oven ( mine is 250C) and roast it for about 25-30 min until the skin of the peppers turns black.
– On stove : Wrap the peppers in an aluminium foil and with the help of tongs squeeze and turn it oven Gas stove for 10 min.
– After 10 min, remove the foil and again roast it so that skin will become black and will give that roasted flavor.
– Fresno Chile Pepper (7)
( If Fresno Chile Pepper is not available, the best alternative it is use guntur dried chillies )
– In the boiling water, put fresno chilies and let it boil until the chilies are very very soft.
– Put roasted bell peppers and fresno chilies in a bowl and cover it.
– Cover will allow the steam to develop and will cook the peppers and chilies further.
– After it reaches room temperature, Remove the skin of the peppers.
– Skin is very fibrous so it will come off easily.
– Remove the stem and seeds of Fresno chilis .
Spices :
– Carrom seeds ( ajwain ) (1/2 Tsp)
– Cumin seeds (1 Tsp)
– Coriander seeds (1 Tsp)
– Dry roast all the spices and grind it to a fine powder.
– In the same grinder, add peppers,
– Garlic (6-7 cloves)
– Salt to taste
– Olive oil (2 Tbsp) ( If not available, use regular vegetable oil)
– Grind it to make a smooth paste
– If you want a smoother texture you can further pass it through a sieve but i find it way smoother so i skipped this step.
– In a non stick pan :
– Add Tomato Puree (2/3 Cup)
– Reduce it till it becomes a paste
– Add the ground paste of bell peppers and chiles.
– Cook it further until it attains a paste consistency.
– And voila… your homemade Harissa sauce is ready.
– You can create infinite things with the help of this sauce/paste so please do comment where you used it.
– For making Harissa Mayo :
– Mayo ( 3 Tbsp)
– Harissa paste ( 1-2 Tsp)
– Mix and your homemade harissa mayo is ready.
You can use it in :
– Zingy parcel : https://youtu.be/Ui88bteZgOs

First time i ever eaten harrisa sauce was when I purchased the
"MINA HARISSA MOROCCAN" red pepper mild sauce from Ebay.
A bit bland but it tasted okay.
I think I'll skip the tomato sauce/paste
and ADD roasted garlic cloves. As a bonus twist from the original traditionalism, since I absolutely love luv love Onions in everything I'm gonna be adding chopped/minced OR for a much smoother texture LIQUEFIED onions in blender. After viewing multiple ways to make Harissa peppers I plan on making my own! Don't get me wrong i love Tomatoes but i absolutely will NOT be adding any Tomatoes of any sort i want a creamy HARISSA sauce (not paste). Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the discretion box. I had lots of doubts …u cleared them.
Your using the wrong kind of peppers.. Should be using the tiny mideastern "bird tongue peppers" they are available dried in bags. And sometimes fresh
