Soon there, will be no prices on the menu in the restaurant. You will just pay whatever the restaurant sees fit.

It’s clearly a ploy and a movement. Same as ‘service fees for health workers’, started with a few in about 2015, growing steadily and eventually will be 100% the norm.
Almost a conspiracy but that’s another sub I think!

I wonder if this has anything to do with Grub Hub and those places charging $3-$5 more per item. I always check both menus to see how fucked I’m getting. I mean, how much I’m overspending.

Probably mostly a reaction to inflation moving so quickly and not wanting to have to update their website every time they have to move prices?

Not defending it but I’d imagine some of it has to do with the delivery apps and some of it has to do with just not having to update your website all the time.

This place charges that BS 5% for “operating costs”. Smdh

A surprising number of places do this now — even local chains like Islands!
I think the food costs changing so rapidly spooked a lot of restaurants into leaving the prices off their sites just in case it might scare people off.

If I had a menu without prices I’d walk out

ADD THEM TO “THE LIST”

I use Google maps or Yelp pictures. If they still don’t have relatively current prices listed then I don’t go to that place

This is unfair to the restaurant. They’re not going to have prices on their online pdf menus from their website because then they’ll have to update it constantly depending for seasonal items or even pay their website manager to do that. It’s generally to give an idea of what kind of food they serve. If you want prices, go to YELP and look up actual photos people took of the menu. Those have prices on them.
Should be lucky they even bothered to upload a menu. Most restaurants don’t do that and they didn’t have to do that either.

This is why I take the extra step of looking up recent menu pics in both Google Maps and Yelp!

This practice really should be illegal

So I’m pretty sure the OP means the website doesn’t list prices. But if you go into the restaurant and get handed the menu, it would have the prices.

If you have to ask… the worst is airport bars. Please inform me of my $14 Bud light in advance.
This place has already been in this sub for screwing their customers over I think…the name looks familiar.
I’ve seen no prices on online menus commonly with the prices shown at the restaurant.
If that happens I just google image or yelp it.
Join the movement: don’t order if price not listed
I just won’t go anywhere that doesn’t list prices. There are no shortage of life changing restaurants here.
it’s [always been pretty common](https://www.thedailymeal.com/eat/here-s-real-reason-some-restaurants-don-t-post-prices-online) and Kateen is far from the only one (not that it’s good, although you can always call and ask)
