My wife and I love to go out early when we can and try out new places that have happy hours. She found Tu Madre in SM and we went there early, around 4 PM this past Friday, November 10th.

On their website, they say they have happy hour M – F from 3 – 6 PM. When we went there, they said they do not have happy hour on Friday. Just M – Thurs.

Also, they do not say this on their site, but there is a 6% service charge. Not as bad as some places but I am not a fan of service charges. Especially, surprise ones.

As per the food and drinks, we did enjoy them. The margarita was strong and tasty. The street tacos were juicy but kind of bland. The KBBQ taco didn’t taste anything like Korean BBQ and tasted similar to the Chicken taco I ordered. My wife ordered lamb tacos which was tasty but was $6 for one.

Overall, it was a bit of a let down and surprise RE the service charge and no happy hour as it was advertised.

Just a friendly heads-up, the pic you posted says no happy hour on holidays, and last Friday was when Veterans Day was celebrated, so perhaps that explains it.

Y’all gotta stop crying over service chargers.

Edit: they are not going to stop no matter how hard y’all cry in social media. Get over it and move on.

Service charge is B’s for 2 reasons. 1. Just raise the prices of your food to cover cost increases, that’s just how inflation works. 2. Most customers will not read this fine print; they will see a “service charge” on their bill and just assume that it covers gratuity.
