I don’t want to roast it, I just want to put it in the slow cooker and shred it. Should I add a liquid?

Here is my all time favorite recipe.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork (12-15 servings ? not sure they’re right about that!)

    1 medium onion, sliced

1 (5 #) pork roast (pork loin, picnic roast or almost anything will work)

1 large garlic bulb separated into cloves and peeled

    1/4 cup worcestershire sauce

Penzey’s bbq seasoning (see note..I make it up from what I have)

    Salt and pepper

    1 (12-oz) can of beer

    1. Place 2/3 of onion slices in the bottom of crock pot
    2. Remove any large sections of fat from roast. Season roast with salt and pepper. Cut slits all over the roast and push a garlic clove into each slit. Place roast on top of onions in crock pot.
    3. Pour worcestershire sauce over the top of the roast. Sprinkle entire top of the roast with seasonings (see note). Top with remaining onion slices. Pour beer into the crock pot (down sides of crock pot, so seasonings stay on top of roast). Cook on low heat 10 hrs till tender.
    4. Pull roast apart with 2 forks. Serve with Sweet Baby Ray’s Bbq Sauce (you can put pulled pork and bbq sauce back into empty crock pot and simmer if desired–I haven’t tried that).

Penzey’s Bbq seasoning is at Penzey’s store on 7338 Manchester in Maplewood. I’ve never bought it. It includes the following: sweet paprika, salt, sugar, allspice, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic, ginger, cinnamon and thyme. I just mix up some of these spices and use that and it works well.

Is a sirloin pork roast the same as a shoulder or butt roast?

I am afraid you have the wrong meat for pulled pork
