Thanks to u/Top-Steph for posting on this topic two ago. As a result, I went to Craft for dinner last night and got a few more details to share here.

The last meal for reservations is Thanksgiving dinner. However, the restaurant is closing on December 16th to honor all the holiday events that are on the calendar. That will be the staff’s last day. So, they actually got a month’s notice.

My waiter’s take on what led to this: COVID slowdown, endless construction on Avenue of the Stars, and the writers’ strike. That last one makes a ton of sense. It’s always been the fine dining hangout for the talent agencies.

Saturday night covers were hovering at 80-90 a night, and since u/Top-Steph and others shared the news, they took 120 covers last night. The staff is very grateful to everyone for getting the word out!

Finally, my meal and experience were extraordinary. Craft is still one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. The wine list is interesting and strikingly inexpensive for a restaurant at this level. The raw talent of the kitchen is up there with Providence and others who meticulously focus on simple presentations. I’ll miss Craft and the team that made it so special.

The construction and Covid really did a number on the area. Craft was no our go to special date night restaurant. The service has always been impeccable and the servers treated you very well. We were big fans of Top Chef and everything Collechio bashed the chefs for during the restaurant challenge, he made sure was right in his restaurant. The little details mattered in the vibe, service, presentation, and food. I hope he opens another restaurant somewhere else

Goddamn it! CraftBar was my favorite restaurant in NYC when I lived there then it closed and I was so excited Craft was here when I moved. 😩

we were there a few months ago and we were staying at the fairmont next door. it was definitely a ghost town at dinner time. our food was forgettable and under seasoned. nice people but it doesn’t surprise me

Craft is a shell of what it used to be. Unfortunate but true.
