Is there a way to figure out which companies use the same rings? My wife loves canning and we have a ton of ball jars and I bought so off brand quart jars for another project that required a modified lid. The lids said they were made for ball jars and fit the off-hand perfectly but refuse to fit on the ball jars. It’s almost as if the ball jar is slightly wider than the offbrand.off-hand. Like Mayne the threads are slightly different? I know ball, Kerr, and elegant time use the same rings but I can’t find any info the other brands.

Many lower quality imported ring are slightly too small for US made jars. They’re nominally the same size but very slightly smaller.

During the great COVID canning shortages, many online sellers had the cheap imports in counterfeit Ball packaging, don’t know if that’s still an issue.
