The Rosedale Diner announces permanent closure after 45 years, staying open through end of year. RIP to a legendary family-run spot, an incredible burger, and one of Toronto’s first “Diners Drive Ins and Dives” features.

  1. Bummer. The quality had gone down a lot though. Was there for lunch two weekends ago and my wife got the coldest soggiest waffle I’ve ever seen. Brisket benny was also gone.

Not surprised. Cute place nice people but it was feeling a little (a lot) tired – when the smell of the can starts hitting the floor I think it’s usually a good sign that the end is nigh

In all fairness, this place ain’t what it used to be and has been on a steady decline for like the last 10 years.

Pretty sure they were famous for scamming their employees and not paying/stealing money from them

***edit*** sorry I confused the two restaurants in my head. The one with labour board violations and known to not pay their employees is called Caren’s rosedale. Sincerely apologize for the confusion

I went there about 15 years ago and it was wonderful but I haven’t been back. My dad went back a few years later and he said the food wasn’t great anymore.

Went there for a summerlicious once. Worst meal and servers have ever experienced. It’s a wonder it was around for so long

Owners are old and own the building. A developer owns all the buildings immediately to the south of them. I’m sure they got PAID!

I miss the epic duck poutine they had 10-15 years ago. It’s not what it used to be, but it used to be a go-to for big family dinners out and it’s a bummer to see yet another one of my old standbys close 🙁
