  1. A few tips to make the recipe better-
    1) put the spice mixture into the beef before the sauce for about 30 seconds as the fat will bloom the spices and give them a better flavor
    2) fill the tortillas with beef and fold them and fry each side in the oil and then you can add your cheeses and toppings after they’re crispy and it will be fried in the shape you want

  2. Use New Mexico chili powder… It's more flavorable than most chili powders…

Skip the iodized salt if you want to keep any good taste… Replace it with either sea salt or kosher salt…

Then I had minced onions and jalapenos cooking in the beef mixture…just for another layer of flavor…

  3. I personally have made the same Mexican dishes you have. I’d say that this is classic and you did a great job with the video Dave. I turned your Chili into a burrito that was amazing.
Hey man maybe for like home cooked type food do chicken fried steak my personal fav or orange chicken for something more international. Keep it coming man.

  4. Drain beef depending on the recipe. Sometimes it doesnt matter. I only use 93/7 so I normally leave it at this point.
Best sloppy joe…I make it with salsa.
Invest in cookie cooling racks that you can put the shells on Or anything that you can drape it over and let it form.

  5. I also have challenges with home made taco shells. So I usually give up and have TOSTADA tuesday. Also, instead of tomato sauce in the filling we use a store bought salsa that we like.

  6. Dave Dave Dave, you should drop the tortilla and fold it over then let it warm up already folded not try and shape them after they get hard and crispy. 🤦🏼‍♂️

  7. 1). These tacos are a lie. I have no idea why Google would place them as authentic tacos, as they include sour cream as a key ingredient. Sour cream and tacos do not belong together. Making them connect can only lead to misery, and only the brittle remains of a soul … even where once stood an embodied fortitude of exemplary standards few could dare to gaze upon.

2). These look tasty, and are in the shape of a taco … much like Jack In The Box 'Tacos'. I am going to think of them as incorrectly named food that is delicious … just like Jack In the Box Tacos.

3). To make the Tortillas look like shells … fry them, and then, while they are 'floppy' lay them over the side of something like a rectangular 'loaf pan' or deep casserole dish, or anything that would let the tortilla flop into a half-moon shape with enough of a gap to allow you to put meat in once it cools and hardens.

  8. I'm a chef and this is what I do for tacos for my family. It's so simple I have most of my friends copying it. 1.5 lbs of beef sauted, drain half the fat and add half a cup of beef stock or a beef oxo and half a cup of hot water, add 1 small jar of salsa and heat everything together. Add the taco seasoning or the instant packet, add another half cup of water and cook until the water has mostly evaporated.

We both know you know how to garnish, sour cream cheese and cilantro!! Bam! Makes for some very tasty quick tacos. 🌮

  9. Ok, you have convinced me to make my own taco's. These looked yummy! And a BIG yes to the Sloppy Joe episode. Keep up the great work Dave. I truly enjoy watching your videos.

  10. I stopped buying taco seasoning after I tried this the first time. I add some onions and a little garlic to my ground beef, but I add onions to everything. Pair the tacos with some Mexican rice and its a yummy, pretty inexpensive meal.

  11. When I fry corn tortillas – I have about an inch of oil. Hold one side of the tortilla, dip it in the oil, while bending the tortilla in half (leaving enough room for your fillings) and let it crisp up that way. Love watching the cooking videos too!

  12. Love this… hint… Try warming the shell, form it and cook on each side! I hope that made sense. Every day is taco day at my house. Our family of 26 have a taco feed each month. So much fun! Everyone pitches in with the items we need. We have soft , hard shell tacos and flour tortillas for those that want a burrito or a sancho.

  13. If you want a great taco then I would suggest doubling the recipe by adding a pound of ground pork twice the amount of all the spices plus 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and Mrs Dash South Western Chipotle seasoning about 1-2 tablespoons depending on how spice you like it. You can also add Hosin sauce, and Teriyaki Sauce for a Asian Mexican Fusion version. They are delicious!😁

  14. I would Add a bit of water to the meat so it can simmer without scorching the sugars in the tomato sauce, and while it thicken up the flavor will be infused into the meat.

  15. When your tortillas softens, but before it browns fold it in half, the just flim it over after one side browns, it is so much easier.

  16. You can also add diced Onions and garlic to the meat, and if you want to stretch it further then you can add grated carrots to trick you kids into eating their vegetables. Top with cheese, lettuce, sour cream avocado, and salsa.

  17. Wow you are legit. I started watching you as a reseller . Then I heard you say you had 5 other channels ?! Love your take on this show!!
