Bacon-Wrapped Dates

Servings: 8

Ingredients:
-8 pitted medjool dates
-8 regular or turkey bacon slices, cut into 4” strips
-regular or vegan cheese block of your choice, cut into small 1/2” x 3/4” rectangular blocks
-3 tbs maple syrup
-1 tsp minced garlic
-1 tsp red chili flakes
-salt and pepper
-flaky salt for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
-preheat oven to 400F
-make a lengthwise cut into the dates to remove pits if not already done so
-open up the date and stuff with small rectangular block of cheese
-tightly close the date and bring the edges back together as close as possible
-wrap each date with a strip of bacon and use a toothpick to hold it together tightly
-place the dates on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper
-season with salt and pepper
-bake for 10 minutes
-in a small bowl, add in maple syrup, garlic, and red pepper flakes; mix well
-carefully remove dates from oven and brush each date with the maple syrup glaze
-bake the dates for another 10 minutes
-remove the dates from the oven and allow them to cool for 10 minutes
-give them one final brush with the glaze before serving
-garnish with optional flaky salt
-enjoy!
