Are these tops on these jars supposed to pop? I recently bought a jar and the top didn’t pop and they were way too easy to open, I put no force into it. I never ate them. Is this the standard or did I buy a tampered jar?

I would say it’s more likely it was damaged. However, the vinegar in there is going to kill pretty much any bacteria that would have gotten in. Safest bet is not to eat them, but I probably would have.

Idk about tampered but this is my favorite brand of pickled peppers ( I legit stock the hell up when they go on sale. Their hot jalapeños are the best I don’t get any other brand).

They pretty much always pop in my experience is what I’m getting at lol. Could be someone opened then to smell them or something who knows

Uh, are we supposed to check if the top pops?

As for the easy open, maybe you are too sexy for this jar.

I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten this exact brand before and do remember at least some kind of small pop when opened.

The spiciness will kill any bacteria. Well, it might not actually kill the bacteria, but it will kill the bacteria’s sense of taste.

They never pop for me and I eat them with my salads.

I’ve never paid attention to a pop, but I love these things

  8. Just sniff it, the nose is a pretty good indicator of if something has gone off. If you don’t see anything wrong, and don’t smell anything wrong, chances are you’re fine.

Buy these all the time, and I never had one pop.

You can take them back to where you bought them and let them know. They should give you a fresh jar. Open it there. If that does the same thing, it may be a defective batch.

As to the peppers, I like Mazzetta. They do not overcharge and the quality is good. You go to the store, see a so called higher end brand for twice the price and half the product. Mazzetta is tasty reliable and good value.

I’ve eaten these open puppies years after the expiration date.

FYI: I am neither a food scientist, nor a doctor.

I love these things! Mine did not pop either. They were good.

Honestly, you’re probably fine. I buy pretty much every iteration of their peppers (pepperoncinis, jalapeños, banana peppers…) and about 50% of them don’t pop and feel like the seal isn’t locked. I’ve never had a problem.

Yes having the top pop when you first open it means it’s been sealed if it doesn’t pop that means it’s already been opened before you bought it and along with contamination there is also the chance it’s been sitting opened on the shelf for awhile when it’s supposed to be refrigerated once you open it. I would return it/exchange it or throw it away.

I love these, great with sandwiches or any snack.

Feel the button on the lid everytime you open something new. If it’s moving its been opened or the seal popped, if not and there’s no pop you can still feel it.
