I’ve been into french press/ aeropress / coffee shop cortados and flat whites for a long time and decided to treat myself to a half decent espresso set up. So far it has been much harder getting 36grm out in 25-30 seconds than I thought it would be. It’s either over or under any advice?

  1. Two really capable entry level setups. I wouldn’t be too obsessed with hitting that time range and focus on the taste and texture. Have fun!

  2. Replacemnt

Like yhe other person said, don’t stress about it. Sometimes, it’s better to go long or shorter depending on the bean. A 1:2 is really a rool of thumb based on most beans. But for a dark roast that extracts easily, it’ll be a lot different from light roast bean. Also, if you really wanna hit that output and time measurement, then try adjusting the dose within a +/- .5g range. And consider upgrading your basket from the original.
