  1. Like a lot of those suggestions on here about the use of nerds. But there is one use I would not recommend, and that is to leave your 3 year old child alone with them. My son put nerds in his ears when he was three. Bless his little heart I took him to the doctor and they used warm water to rinse them out of his ear canal and they got a chuckle out of it as well. LOL

  2. Cheesey grits are yummy like a mash potato substitute to add to a meal. You know meat loaf grits and veggies. I love grits. You can also make it like a desert, just cook the grits in milk, add fruit and some brown sugar and some butter. Yum yum

  3. Pumpkin puree is super easy, and making your own just makes pumpkin pie taste so much better. I cook my pumpkins in the crockpot, super easy, scoop, puree and you're ready for anything that requires pumpkin. 😊

  4. What a great haul! Such a great variety of pantry items. Does your food bank do a thanksgiving meal basket? Ours does and we pick it up on 11/18. We will get a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, ingredients to make green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and turkey gravy. It’s definitely a huge help. It is just me, my husband and my adult son this year. I don’t mind making a whole turkey because I do a lot with the left overs so we end up getting SEVERAL meals out of it.

  5. That take a bake sourdough bread is sooooo good I have about 12 in my freezer. Don’t make them into pizza just alittle butter and that’s all it needs!

  6. Why would you eat..let alone feed YOUR FAMILY something that expired in 2018 and 2021? I’ve tasted my share of expired canned food and enchilada sauce and apple pie filling, would be absolutely disgusting. I’ve had some experience, and I’m quite positive you have too.

  7. I don’t know how families could have enough food without some outside help. It’s just my husband and myself now at home and our food bills are sky high.

  8. We actually have a huge store where i live and they sell bulk items really cheap that are either short dated or past its best before i go there all the time and never had anything that was bad yet!

  9. Gosh, I've been seeing all over the US how food banks are struggling and having to tighten the reins. Sad…there's so many hungry people/families.
Thank you for sharing canning and preserving processes. I truly believe we are going to need to be more and more self sufficient in the future.

  10. Thank you for continuing to discuss food waste. Also for those odd n ends of pasta types..if you make a lasagna in the crockpot you can use that pasta instead of lasagna noodles.

  11. Love your enthusiasm! Thank you for taking the stigma from using food resources. No one should go hunger. Also, can you rinse the pepper off the bacon?

  12. Honey if you want some of the best southern grits let this southern mama tell you how it's done 🤣🤣🤣put half milk half water per instructions of the am out of grits you are going to cook put about 2 tsps. Big spoons of salt in that and 4 beeping table spoons of butter. Now don't put your hits until that water gets hot not boiling. When you get them in there start stirring when you see it start to boil cut it down to a slow cook. Yes it's going to still take more than that 5 minutes😂. Now Don't leave them.. Keep stirring them at a very low boil. If they pop you they are to high. Don't think I'm crazy but keep adding butter till they look a little yellow and get thick and glossy and creamy. About 20 minutes. Then you will have to put a pinch of pepper and taste for the need for more salt. Enjoy😊

  13. I use candy as a topping for cakes , cupcakes, cookies, brownies, ice cream, that sort of thing. Have fun with it. Also couscous is great to use in place of rice and as something extra to put with dinner salads.

  14. You are doing such a great job giving examples of how to use the food to maximize what you have and not waste any of the free food! We have a local collection site where we drop off extra can goods or food and drinks. Does the food bank know that you have a YouTube channel? I bet there are a lot of people that have no idea how to cook. A few of your videos would help them! You could suggest to them if they don't have baking dishes, etc. that the thrift stores would be a good place to get what they need to cook and bake! Your doing a great job at using what you get and having ideas on what to make each time what is available! Your family has a wonderful mother and your husband a wonderful, creative wife!
