Simplest slow cooker recipe I know.
1kg pork shank
1.5kg sauerkraut
I used homemade kraut which is already spiced with pepper, mustard seeds, bay leaf, allspice and hot pepper flakes. If your kraut is on the dry side add 100ml of water. No need for salt as kraut is already salty.
Make a layer of kraut on the bottom of your cooker. Lay in the shank and cover with more kraut on top and the sides. 6-8 hours on low or until kraut gets soft.
That’s it. Serve with potatoes or buttered bread and mustard. Delicious.
